Rescue Dog Assessment
Rescuing a dog in need of a home is a wonderful way to become a dog owner, & there are certainly many out there just waiting for the chance to go home with someone & finally find their special forever home. It is important however to make sure that you assess the dog thoroughly & ensure that you are well-suited to each other - remembering that a "cute face" doesn't always mean that you can expect "cute" behaviour!
In my work I often find that I am called out to help owners with dogs that they have adopted from Rescue Centres that have started to show behaviour problems that the owners were not expecting. Indeed, you will often hear the phrase "he's a rescue" when owners are discussing their doggie problems together in the park!
If you have recently acquired a rescue dog or are thinking of adopting one; I could offer you assistance with assessing what behaviour issues, if any, the dog is likely to begin to show once they settle in with you.
I can provide a Rescue Assessment visit to your home or to the Rescue Centre, to help you to learn a little more about what you might be in for & advise the best way forward to avoid problems developing.
