Helping dogs to feel safe and secure around children
Many people (including myself!) believe that a family is simply not complete without a dog; but for some unfortunate families a lack of understanding of the dynamics of the ideal relationship with "The Wolf in Your Living Room" can lead to disastrous results.
It is a terrible shame when simple misunderstandings and lack of communication and understanding can lead to such a dreadful outcome. Not only are the poor children left injured and frightened, but the dogs are also badly misjudged and in many cases sadly euthanized as a result.
By coming to Leader of the Pack you are making the first step on the road to a healthier family relationship with your dog. Based in Portsmouth, I serve Hampshire and the surrounding areas, I offer both in-person and virtual sessions throughout the area.
Promoting effective communication
Proper education of your children regarding how to behave around dogs - and creating a good two-way communication with your dog - can give your family a much better prospect for you and your children. Work towards having a happy and relaxed life with your beloved pet, allowing your children to experience the joy of growing up around animals.
Ideal for new and young families
If you have young children in your family or are about to introduce a new baby into the household - or even if your dog comes into contact with other family or friends' young children on a regular basis - I can provide you with a tailored training programme. This will include specifics of understanding the often subtle and physical language of dogs, and creating a good relationship between the children in your life and your dog so that misunderstandings can be avoided.
Suitable for all breeds
Some dog breeds are often seen as 'dangerous', when the issues are usually down to how the individual dogs have been raised and how they are treated, regardless of breed. I am happy to work with all breeds, ages and temperaments.
